Sunday drivers should continue to expect work-zone delays from downtown Chicago outward to the Kennedy Expressway, O’Hare approaches and northwestern suburbs. No full weekend shutdown is confirmed for the listed highway corridors, but long-term lane and ramp restrictions remain important.

DOWNTOWN CHICAGO

• Southbound State Street, Wacker Drive to Randolph Street: CTA still lists this block as closed, with the end time undetermined. Use an alternate southbound Loop street before reaching Wacker and allow extra time near State/Lake.

CHICAGO NEIGHBORHOODS

• Northbound Jeffery Boulevard, 73rd to 75th streets: Construction is rerouting the J14, 15 and N5 buses through October 26 at 8 p.m. CTA does not state that regular traffic faces a full closure. Watch for equipment and changing lane patterns.

• 47th Street near Damen and Ashland: The #47 bus continues to detour in both directions via 51st Street through November 11 at 7 p.m. This confirms a local disruption, not a complete street closure. Follow posted signs through the work area.

HIGHWAYS AND AIRPORT APPROACHES

• Outbound Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94), Division Street to Addison Street: The Stage 2 pattern keeps two main outbound lanes closed at a time while the outbound reversible express lanes remain open. Outbound ramps to Augusta/Milwaukee, Addison and Damen are closed, along with entrance ramps from Fullerton and Kimball. Choose a detour before entering the expressway.

• O’Hare North Toll Plaza on I-294: Traffic shifts remain in place and no shoulders are available during construction into 2026. Airport-bound drivers should build additional time into Sunday trips.

SUBURBS

• Franklin Avenue/Green Street, York Road to Runge Street: Traffic remains shifted onto the westbound side with one lane open in each direction through year-end. Expect reduced speeds through Bensenville and Franklin Park.

• Deerfield Road over I-94 and Sanders Road over I-294: Both bridges remain reduced to one lane in each direction through fall. The Techny Road left turn to Sanders Road is closed with a posted detour. Avoid last-minute lane changes near the bridge work.
