Chicago Drivers Daily Road & Traffic Alert — Saturday, October 3, 2026

Weekend drivers should be ready for continuing construction around the Loop, several Chicago neighborhoods and major tollway approaches Saturday. Allow extra time for event, shopping and airport trips.

• Downtown/Loop — Southbound State Street remains closed from Wacker Drive to Randolph Street, with no reopening time announced. Expect detours and heavier traffic on adjacent Loop streets; switch routes north of the river.

• Armitage Avenue — The westbound #73 remains rerouted through Monday afternoon via Kedzie, Fullerton and Pulaski. CTA’s alert confirms a transit reroute but does not confirm a complete street closure. Slow down near temporary stops and turn restrictions.

• South Side — Construction continues to affect Jeffery Boulevard around 73rd–75th streets and 75th Street near Stony Island through October 26. The #J14, #15, #N5 and #75 are rerouted in the area. Drivers should expect buses on alternate blocks and follow work-zone signs.

• Back of the Yards — The #47 remains rerouted through November 11 using Ashland, 51st and Damen. This is evidence of a local disruption, not a confirmed full roadway closure. Avoid curb lanes serving temporary bus stops.

• Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94) — Stage 2 outbound construction continues with two mainline lanes closed at a time, outbound reversible lanes, a closed mid-gate and traffic shifts between Division and Addison. Outbound ramps to Augusta/Milwaukee and Damen remain closed under the current schedule. Weekend traffic may still queue near lane shifts; merge early.

• O’Hare/I-90 — Traffic shifts and shoulder closures remain at the O’Hare North Toll Plaza into 2026. One I-PASS lane at the River Road Toll Plaza is closed, leaving two open. Leave additional airport time and stay alert for changing lane patterns.

• Western and northern suburbs — Eastbound I-88 is subject to nightly full closures between Spring Road and I-290 with posted detours. Washington Street over I-88 in Naperville, Deerfield Road over I-94 and Sanders Road over I-294 remain narrowed to one lane each direction. Use alternate crossings when practical.
